AHAC Headquarters

On the fourth floor of Faneuil Hall, you’ll find the headquarters of the oldest military company in the Western Hemisphere.

The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts was formed by a charter signed by Governor Winthrop in 1638. The museum holds relics from any war that company members have seen action in since its founding including weapons, uniforms, and other one-of-a-kind memorabilia. Be sure not to miss the plush Captain’s Quarters inside the top of Faneuil Hall’s gilded dome, or the Massachusetts seal made out of one giant piece of wood that measures over seven feet high. Climb the Stairway of the Constitution, where each step indicates each of the first thirteen states in the order in which they ratified in the Constitution. 

On the first Monday in June since 1638, an election of Officers is held on Boston Common - that's over 370 years, making it certainly one of the oldest uninterrupted traditions in the country.
